On Wednesday 3 March 2021, we welcomed Lewisham locals and a world-class professional creative team to our first Roundtable for an introduction and discussion about Urban Opera.
The big takeaway from the meeting was that Urban Opera can literally involve anyone and everyone – regardless of their ability to sing.
Willingness to get involved in a community project and to have fun is the only requirement!
We continue to welcome input from Lewisham locals and would love to hear from you if you have any questions, comments or ideas about Urban Opera. You can also find project details here.
We are grateful to everyone who came to the meeting and to those who have since offered to be included in our list of people and groups supportive of the project, in many and various ways.
Lewisham Urban Opera will be an entirely new show created from the ground up by Lewisham residents, alongside exciting industry professionals, during Lewisham’s Borough of Culture year in 2022.
If you are supportive of the project or can connect us with Lewisham-based businesses, sole-traders, charities, and community groups that might like to be involved, please let us know.
“the opportunity to be involved in Urban Opera would be a real thrill, particularly after such a long time away from live performances in Lewisham’s theatres and halls and countless other London / national venues.”
